Don Blackman, nació en 1953, es autor, pianista y cantante de funk nacido en el Queens en Nueva York.

Siendo aún adolescente, tocó con McPherson, Sam Jones y Louis Hayes.
Al principio de los años 70, tocó en Parliament/Funkadelic.

Su maravilloso álbum solo salió en 1982 con Arista Records.

También ha hecho algunas apariciones en los álbumes de Kurtis Blow, Bernard Wricht, Najee, David Sanborn, Roy Ayers, Sting, World Saxophone Quartet y Wayman Tisdale. Escribió “Live to Kick It” que aparece en su álbum “R U Still Down?” de Tupac Shakur.
