Jazzonia : Little Boy Don’t Get Scared

Jazzonia is a combined creation of the legendary producer Alan Douglas and the protean and avant-gardist Bill Laswell. Here is what Douglas says about it : “Eddie Jefferson, King Pleasure, Annie Ross, Dave Lambert and Jon Hendricks were the creators of a new genre, vocal music. They used to adapt their lyrics to freestyle solos. It evolves without a precise structure, and it’s full of surprises.

Bill and I have decided to keep the original lyrics, while giving the instrumental part a facelift. Our thought was to make the young musicians heard, the ones who come from the street, on today’s beat. A few of these talents got together on Jazzonia.”
