For those who did not know, Carnet de Vol is a large urban fashion brand, present in France and in Italy. In 2009, it celebrates its twentieth anniversary, and does it in music.
It is GregFingers, composer and urban music specialist, that Carnet de Vol chose to make this beautiful compilation.
Inspired by Massive Attack, Tangerine Dream, Brian Eno, William Orbit, and called a sound architect by his co-workers and by his audience, GregFingers doesn’t like to be confined in one particular style. He multiplies musical experiences, blending Chill Out, House Underground, and Trip Hop. He composes and releases his first album So Beautiful with the group Hands in 2005, and collaborates with many bands and labels throughout the world.
Real invitation to travelling, the Carnet de Vol compilation takes you on a trip to discover the best of current music, with a Trip Hop and Lounge sound regulated by a Down Tempo and Bossa Nova rhythm. Contemporary rhythms remixed with nerves around jazzy melodies to celebrate the brand’s 20th anniversary through 13 musical stops…

Referred to as the “new queen” of Bossa Nova, Cris Delanno uses her voice as easily on Gospel (her musical base), Jazz, Bossa, Samba, or Pop.
With this new album, produced by Alex Moreira, leader of Bossacucanova (which she joined in 1999), she sings both Brazilian classics such as Canoeiro (Dorival Caymmi), Consolação (Baden Powell and Vinicius Moraes), Gaiolas Abertas (João Donato) or O Brasil Precisa Balançar (Dorival Caymmi and Paulo César Pinheiro), and hits by Freddie Mercury (Crazy Little Thing called love), or by Paul Williams (We’ve Only Just Begun), and offers us an amazing musical ballad, bathed in a Lounge mood, at the same time elegant, joyful and sophisticated.
Enjoy !

Irreverent and inventive, Estudando a Bossa (studying Bossa) pays a wild, surprising, provocative, and critical tribute to Bossa Nova. Tom Zé, grand bidouilleur de son, offers us a study in the form of an anatomy lesson.
Surgeon of the second youth, he dissects nostalgic cliches. His bistoury chisels the thinner and tender parts. His review-songs give Bossa a new youth (debate). They redraw, up to the accent, the arrangements, key-words, and expressions, the times’ sound survey, and its birth’s main protagonists : João Gilberto first, but also Tom Jobim, Carlos Lyra, Vinicius de Moraes, Baden Powell, Dorival Caymmi… Tom has invited many women to sing its praises : Fernanda Takai (Pato Fu), Mariana Aydar, Zélia Duncan, Marina de la Riva, Mônica Salmaso, Andréia Dias, Fabiana Cozza, Jussara Silveira, Badi Assad, Márcia Castro, Tita Lima, Anellis Assumpcão…
With Arnaldo Antunes’ help David Byrne’s support, Tom and his friends get into a complete study of Bossa without any hangups. Just like a reversed autopsy (which gives life), the operation is subtle, intelligent, sagacious, ran with precision and control. The scalpel is steady and loving. It incises like a stroke. And shows us a naked, wild, and more rebel than ever Miss Bossa Nova.

A Brief Biography of Brasil ‘66
Arriving on A&M Records’ doorstep in 1966, Sergio Mendes and his group were signed to a record deal by Herb Alpert, whose enthusiastic response enabled their immediate success.
Blending Brazilian, jazz and American popular styles, Brasil ‘66 became known for their unique, innovative sound. While Mendes was the lively pianist, arranger, producer and musical director, it was Chicago-bred vocalist Lani Hall who gave the group the finesse that ensured their success on the pop music charts. Lani is equally at home singing in English, Spanish and Portugese, although you’d never know it from the way she tackles all of her songs with the ease of a native.
